Boston College (1-1) will be hosting No. 3 Florida State (2-0) this Saturday for its 10th annual Red Bandanna Game. Kickoff will be at Noon ET from Alumni Stadium (Chestnut Hill, MA) and will be nationally televised on ABC.

Boston College is coming into this game after a narrow victory, beating Holy Cross last week 31-28. The Florida State Seminoles have won four straight in the series, and 11 of the last 12 matchups. The Eagles’ last win in the series was a 35-3 Red Bandanna Game in 2017 and since then, three of the last four games have been decided by seven points or less.

BC will honor Welles Crowther ’99, who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and was credited with saving as many as a dozen lives in the Twin Towers. The Red Bandanna Game started back in 2014 with a 37-31 win over No. 9 USC. Boston College is 4-5 all-time in Red Bandanna Games.

Current Line: BC +25.0 (O/U 46.5)

Chance Of Winning: 3.4%

According to ESPN Analytics BC has a 3.4% chance of winning this game. The spread for this game is currently 25.0 points in favor of Florida State, with the over/under at 46.5. The line has moved significantly over the past week.

Does BC Cover The Spread?

Florida State will win this game, but Boston College will cover the spread. With the potential wind effect from Hurricane Lee and the honor of playing for Welles, the score might remain close for the first half. Ultimately, we expect this talented FSU team to pull away at some point in second half and win this game by a few scores (or more).

The over/under looks suspicious, but we are leaning towards the over. As Hurricane Lee pulls away from the east coast we also expect the Seminoles to pull away from the Eagles and start to stack up points. The weather would seem to be a huge factor in this game, however the skill of FSU should override everything in the end.

Final Score: 38-14 (BC LOSES)

The confidence level for this Boston College team is still extremely low. However, the momentum from winning the previous week always helps no matter how ugly the win and with the extra excitement that always comes with the Red Bandana Game expect the Eagles to come out with great energy.

Boston College is in no way expected to win this game. They have nothing to lose and need to come out swinging. The keys to victory are what you expect for a major underdog. The Eagles will need to play their hearts out, create turnovers, take risks and execute perfectly for a chance to pull off this upset.

To all BC Football Fans, this game is bigger than football. We all need to show up on Saturday when Boston College and Florida State get the honor of playing for Welles Crowther in the Red Bandanna Game.
